Toured Tongli Water Town. We had lunch there and visited different gardens here. This place was HUGE. At the entrance we all got maps but even with them I still got lost.

All of the gardens were beautiful. I really enjoyed sketching here because it was a calm place. The landscape in each garden was very well put together.
Assignment:
1. What did you expect before climbing that mountain? (Think before you got there).
Before climbing the mountain Maya had googled how the mountain looks like and she couldn’t believe where we were going. She sounds so worried that I didn’t even want to look at it I would rather not know and be surprise when I get there because or else I know I would’ve been scared of it the while time. I’m glad I didn’t look into it because I probably would’ve chickened out or something. I know Irma also warned us about start training to hike and walk more but I honestly didn’t take her serious so I did not physically prepare myself for this but it was okay in the end I think because I was still able to make it through the entire trip.
2. How did that confirm or change after the climb (social, natural spaces)?
After the first climb up I most definitely regret not looking into the Yellow Mountain before so I could physically train for this. I wasn’t even mentally prepared for it but I also didn’t want to ask how much further or longer is it going to take to get to our destination because I know the answer to that would scare me more so I just kept going.
3. What lessons would you offer students in the program next year? What would you wish you had known based on the whole experience?
I would follow Irma’s advice and take everything she says seriously. DO train. DO research on everywhere you go before going because you will enjoy it more I think. I would encourage all of the students to stop taking elevators and take the stairs as much as they can or just make time to work out even a little. I also wish I would’ve had contact with the students who did the program a year before me. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get a hold of them but I wish I had so I can ask little questions to because I wanted a student’s perspective and not a professors’ because the experiences are still different.
